Day 1:

Depart London Heathrow on direct overnight flight from Heathrow to Johannesburg.

Days 2-4:

Connect with onward flight to Port Elizabeth and on arrival collect hire car and drive to the Amakhala Game Reserve to stay for three nights on full board basis, including safari activities, at Shearers Lodge. Shearers Lodge, set in the grounds of Leeuwenbosch, was originally built in 1930 and used for shearing and classing wool. Now beautifully converted into four luxury en-suite bedrooms, all the rooms open on to a wide colonial verandah, overlooking indigenous gardens, rolling lawns and the quaintly charming Leeuwenbosch Chapel. There is also a central dining room and barbecue area, lounge bar and swimming pool. The next two days will be spent in the African bush experiencing the wildlife. An early morning wake-up call will be followed by coffee and tea, before you leave for an early morning game drive. After returning to the lodge a sumptuous breakfast awaits guests. A guided walk is then offered after breakfast. Accompanied by an experienced ranger, the bush often looks totally different when it is being explored on foot. After lunch is enjoyed at the lodge there is time to relax and recover before afternoon tea and coffee is served and an afternoon game drive offered. Alternatives to game drives are canoeing safaris on the Bushman’s River, bird watching, picnic lunches and river cruises.

Days 5-7:

Proceed along the Garden Route to Knysna to stay for three nights on bed & breakfast at Belvidere Manor. Set on the edge of the Knysna Lagoon in blooming gardens, this property has been tastefully renovated in the Cape Dutch style and offers accommodation in beautiful individual cottages, all en-suite and furnished with fully-equipped kitchen, lounge with fire place & satellite television, wide verandah and barbeque. The main building also houses a restaurant and charming pub, and there is an outdoor swimming pool.

Its six suites are large, light and airy and come complete with their own private terrace. There is an enclosed courtyard with its own swimming pool and superb service throughout the day. An ideal location for travelling gourmets to enjoy the local wines and some of the outstanding restaurants of the area.
